Cong leader concerned over pace of developmental works

RAMBAN, Oct 11: Senior Congress leader and MLA Ramban today inaugurated 14 mast street lights, 6 in Ramban town and 8 in Batote.
According to handout issued here today, funds for these lights have been given by Urban Local Bodies Department of Jammu. While addressing the gatherings, Ashok assured the people of Ramban district that he would do his best to reach out to them particularly the needy ones every time and shall keep on highlighting their demands at every forum especially in the state assembly.
He said that during the just concluded assembly session, he had highlighted the demand of Tehsil status to Batote, ex-gratia relief to the family members of the accident victims besides seeking redressal of the problem of the educated unemployed youth of the Ramban district. He had also raised issue of non-availability of clean drinking water in Ramban district.
He exhorted the officers of Municipal Committees of Batote to provide them benefits under the integrated housing and slum development programme to the deserving persons only. He assured the public that he would take up the matter of sluggish pace of work on the under construction roads under PMGSY because of the paucity of funds with the higher concerned authorities.
Abdul Majid Sheikh, General Secretary, Contractors Association demanded early release of pending payments of the contractors. Prominent persons present on the occasion included R.P Kotwal, Zubeda Parveen, Narinder Kour and Chunilal Goswami.
