| Kho-Kho: MAM, Doda College win to reach QFs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, October 11: Government MAM College and Government Degree College Doda won their respective matches to sail into the quarterfinals of the inter-college men’s kho-kho competitions, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus, here today.
Getting bye in the first round, both the sides won their matches rather easily to qualify for the third round. Now, MAM shall take on Doda College in the quarterfinals on October 13.
Earlier, MAM College defeated Government GL Dogra College Hiranagar by one turn and 17 points. Doda College again made it a one sided contest against opponent from Government Degree College R S Pura securing a one turn and 14 points win.
Another team reached the quarterfinals was Government Degree College Rajouri after getting walkover Degree College Bhaderwah today.
In other scheduled matches, Government Degree College Akhnoor got walkover Dogra Law College while Post Graduate Departments awarded walkover MAM (Evening) College. In sixth match of the day, both Government Degree College Kalotrian and Bhargwa Colleges could not turn up.
Today’s matches were officiated by State Sports Council coaches, Anil Sharma and Ajay Gupta.
Earlier, the kho-kho competitions were declared open by chairman Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Varsha Mehta, who graced as special guest. She was accompanied by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
