10/11/2010 9:45:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 11 : National Bahujan Party (NBP) expressed its grave concern over delay tactics being adopted by the state government in implementing Mandal Commission report in the State to give 27 percent reservation to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the State.
Addressing a press conference, national president of NBP K K Manhotra said that OBCs throughout the country has been getting 27 percent reservation but in Jammu and Kashmir this section has been getting only 2 percent which is glaring example of the denying constitutional rights to the OBCs.
He further pointed out that state government has been issuing OSC certificate to the OBCs which was again against the rights to OBCs. He said that Union Government has been giving 27 percent reservation to the OBCs candidates of the State but the State Government has been issuing OSC certificate so OBCs candidates depriving of their rights in job of various central government departments.
NBP president also demanded OBC status for Jats and assured that his party would support the agitation launched by Jats for OBCs. He demanded abolishing of creamy layer for OBCs like Schedule Castes (SCs). He said that there is no concept of creamy layer in the SCs so same policy should be adopted by OBCs.
NBP president also flayed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for this controversial and objectionable speech on the floor of the Legislative Assembly in which he has challenged accession of the state with Indian Union and maintained that that J&K is an integral part of India.
