Thought provoking lecture on Urdu delivered

Jammu, Oct 12: The department of Urdu, University of Jammu today added another feather in its cap by organizing a thought-provoking lecture of Prof. Iretza Kareem, HOD Urdu Delhi University on the subject “Importance of Urdu in Present Scenario”.
The programme was presided over by Prof. Qudoos Javed, former HOD Kashmir University.
While delivering his thought-provoking lecture Prof. Irteza Kareem informed that Urdu is a universal language and there is lot of Job opportunities for the students of Urdu language.
In this connection he presented the example of Shah Faisal who topped in IAS examination and who had Urdu as one of the subject.
Prof. Irteza Kareem advised the audience that they should at least give one hour to literature.
He described the Urdu the language of hearts and love, which had a tremendous literature to its credit.
Describing Galib, Mir, Dag a part of civilization, Irteza Kareem said that we should be proud of being the students of Urdu.
He further said that Urdu is a link language of India and had united India from Kashmir to Kanya kumari therefore its future is bright. He also discussed the importance of Urdu in a society and lauded the efforts of department of Urdu, university of Jammu for organizing such types of literary activities.
In his presidential address Prof. Qudoos Javed congratulated Irteza Kareem for delivering thought provoking lecture.
He said that Urdu language is developing day by day and presented the example of KAS mains result where Urdu knowing students had achieved their goals.
Earlier In his welcome address Shohab Inayat Malik criticized all those who are making hue and cry against the candidates who had passed KAS mains examination with Urdu subject.
These individuals are making unnecessary hue and cry because Urdu deserve its lost glory from the official side. Urdu students who had passed KAS mains examination are brilliant one and there is no need to raise such slogans against PSC added, Shohab.
Mohd conducted the proceeding of the program. Reyaz Ahmed while M.A Wani presented a vote of thanks.
A large number of students, scholars and civil society members attended the function. Prominent among them were Liyaqat Jafri, Irfan Goni, Mushtaq Khak and Chaman Lal, ex MLA Ramban.
Prof. Nusrat Ara Choudhary, Prof. Vijay Dev Singh, Prof. M.A Wani, Dr. Mohd. Reyaz Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
The program was organized in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department.
