MAM enters semis to meet PG Arts today in Cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 12: Government MAM College today reached the semi-finals stages of the inter-college cricket tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) here. Now, in the semi-finals, MAM shall take on formidable combined side of PG Arts tomorrow in the afternoon session. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, MAM registered a big 75 runs win over GGM Science College. Batting first after winning the toss, MAM set a competitive total of 153 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Science College could not chase the target and bundled out for a small total of 78 runs in 14.4 overs thus conceded a humiliating defeat. Vikas was highest scorer with 33-ball 42 runs while Vishwajeet contributed 23-ball 32 runs. From Science College, Raj Dev Singh was most successful bowler with four wickets. Later, chasing a run-rate of over seven runs per over, Science College could not give it a good start and lost early wickets. In the process, the whole side bowled out for 78 runs in 14.4 overs. Ankush and Sandeep were main scorers with 19 and 13 runs in their respective accounts. Naeem Butt bowled brilliant spell from MAM with five for 16 in four overs. Surinder and Vishavjeet took three and two wickets respectively. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Government Degree College Poonch defeated Government Degree College Kathua by seven wickets to reach second round of pre-quarterfinals. Earlier, batting first, Kathua lost all their wickets for 89 runs in 16.5 overs, which, in reply, Poonch chased in 13.1 overs making 90 runs for the loss of three wickets. Now, Poonch College shall take on PG Law and Sciences tomorrow at 9.30 pm. Mazhar Usma of Poonch College was declared man of the mach for his four wickets haul.
