Slathia distributes 39 land allotment letters among entrepreneurs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 12: -Minister for Industries and Commerce, S.S. Slathia today distributed land allotment letters to 39 prospective entrepreneurs facilitating them to set up their Small Sale Industrial (SSI) units at Silk/Handicraft Park at Zakura. The Park has been developed by SICOP over an area of 109 kanals. It has been designed in such a manner that end product of one unit becomes the in-put raw material for another unit. The SSI units shall be set up under reeling, twisting, weaving, warping, yarn dying and finally processing units in integrated manner with proper linkage with each other. Speaking on the occasion, Slathia said the Government is endeavoring to provide all the incentives available under Central and State Industry Policies to the outside investors which will prove helpful in tackling the unemployment problem in the state. He said local investors will also be given priority with all incentives available. He said strict instructions have been issued to the concerned authorities to expedite the registration and other processing formalities within the stipulated time. Slathia emphasized upon the entrepreneurs to set up their units in a proper design and in the respective line of manufacturing at the earliest so that the Estate becomes vibrant with manufacturing activities and contribute towards economic development and employment generation. The Minister complimented the Managing Director and its management for the timely completion of the project. MLA Hazratbal, Mustafa Kamal said that during the early days, the silk industry was the only industry in the state contributing significant revenue which received a severe setback and urged for significant and coordinated efforts to boost industrial sector , which include world famous Kashmir handicrafts. He said the Government should take all the steps for revival of the industrial sector of the State. Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Umang Narula said that the government will keenly observe the functioning of the estate and will explore all possibilities for making the state industrially vibrant. He said the project has been completed at a cost of Rs.10 crore within the stipulated time. Speaking on the occasion, managing director, SICOP, R. K. Razdan said that an exclusive segment has also been reserved for handicraft sector which comprise of 38 plots. He said the estate is complete in all respects with proper power, water supply and drainage system. He said a full-fledged Common Facility Centre will also come up in near future in the estate for which the building stands already completed adding that the machinery would also be installed by central silk board after consultation with the stake holders.
