Cultural Academy setting up offices at Kishtwar, Poonch | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 12: In its efforts to reach out to the untraditional audience in the far flung areas of the state, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) is planning to open its offices at places like Kishtwar and Poonch. “This is in the pipeline and would soon see light of the day,” declared Additional Secretary, Kashmir Shamima Akther. She was speaking at Kishtwar during a mushaira-cum-musical programme. Interestingly, in order to promote Kashmiri Chakri and other local musical genres, cultural academy has started a series of programmes. The events at Kishtwar, Doda and Bhaderwah were a part of the series. A large number of musical groups and poets from Kashmir participated in these programmes. The musical parties were led by Abdul Salaam Qoimoh, Mohamed Aslam Tabassum and Nissar Hussain Dolwal among others. Welcoming the audience, Additional Secretary Kashmir, Shamima Akhter outlined the need to preserve traditional music in Kashmiri speaking belts of Jammu province. “We have a rich blend of indigenous Kashmiri music in Jammu region of the state and the Academy is doing its best to promote it,” Akhter said. Functions at all the three places saw participation of myriad people. Prominent among those who attended the programmes were noted poet Fida Kistwari, Naaz Nizami, SP Kisthwar Salahudin, and Additional DC Doda Atta-ur-Rehman among others. Programme proceedings were conducted by Cultural Officer, Doda, Farid Ahmad Faridi. He also presented the vote of thanks.
