Massive rally on environment held at Katra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: As part of Navratra Festival being organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and state tourism department in collaboration District Administration Reasi and local organizations, a massive awareness rally on environmental protection was organized in the holy town of Katra. As many as 1400 students drawn from the 35 schools of Reasi district participated in the rally. Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Reasi Sukh Dev Singh and Chief Education Officer (CEO) Reasi jointly flagged off the rally from Government Higher Secondary School, Katra here on Tuesday. The students carrying placards and raising slogans regarding environmental protection after passing through various locations of the Katra town like bus stand, main bazaar, Chintamani Mandir finally culminated at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra. Assistant Commissioner Revenue who is also the Nodal officer of the Navratra Festival, Katra called upon the students to put in their dedicated and sincere efforts in safeguarding the environment for the sustenance of life on this earth. Chief education officer in his address stressed the need for creating greater awareness among the people on the subject. Earlier, a story telling competition on the life of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji was also organized in Government Higher Secondary School, Katra in which students drawn from 30 schools of Katra and its adjoining areas participated. Naib-Tehsildar (NT) Katra was the Chief Guest while as Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Katra Sudarshan Pandoh, teachers and large number of students were present on the occasion.
