NH blocked following woman's mysterious death | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 12: Alleging foul play in the death of a young woman, hundreds of people from Ramzanpura locality in Janipur area lodged a strong protest at Narwal Balla on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway here today. The traffic on National Highway could be restored only after one and a half hour since the protesters had staged a sit-in there. The agitated people, who were perturbed over the mysterious death of Naseem Akhtar, blocked National Highway at Narwal for about half an hour and burnt tyres which disrupted vehicular movement The protesters were gathered there to express their resentment against police for not arresting the in-laws of Naseem, who was found dead at the residence of her in-laws. Sensing the trouble brewing up as the hundreds of protesters blocked the national highway, SP South Rajeshwar Singh reached the spot and pacified the crowd. He assured them that after postmortem report the accused would be booked accordingly. Naseema, who died under mysterious circumstances was brought to hospital by her parents in an unconscious condition from her in-laws' residence at Narwal Balla. The deceased's family alleged that her in-laws were demanding dowry for the last few months and failing to fulfill their demands led to the death of their daughter child. Naseema got married to Abdul Hussain barely eight months ago. Her parents were informed by the neighbours of her in-laws through phone call that she was laid in the courtyard in an unconscious condition. She was rushed to the GMC hospital where doctors declared her as brought dead. It is alleged that she was given some poisonous substances by her in-laws. A three members doctors committee was constituted for the postmortem report of which is awaited.
