Rajouri CEO, ZSB illegally occupy Pahari hostel
From 5 to 8 years, no rent paid: 15-20 students forced to live in one room

RAJOURI, Oct 12: Notwithstanding the fact that 15 to 20 students have been accommodated in a single room, major part of the Pahari Hostel Rajouri is illegally occupied by Chief Education Officer and Zilla Sanik Board (ZSB) for the last 8 years though the government had strictly issued an order to vacate this hostel, however no action has been taken by the authorities and the CEO and ZSB continue to stay in the hostel.
As per details, Pahari hostel has strength of more than 125 students and only 8 rooms have been left which forced the authorities to accommodate 15-20 student in a room but the same is creating problems for the students who complained that they cannot stay in hosted in such a environment when the rooms are seen jam packed with students like animals.
One compartment of the hostel is illegally occupied by Chief Education Officer Rajouri Gurucharan Singh. Sources said that CEO has occupied this Pahari hostel 5 years ago and was not paying any rent. Although Chief Education Officer has its own quarter but the same was not utilized. Sources said that if CEO will utilize government quarter, he will lose Housing Rent Allowance being given to him by the government. Sources said that the rent of the accommodation in five years is approximately Rs 1.80 lakh.
The another compartment has been occupied by Zilla Sainik Board for the last 8 years whose rent is approximately estimated as Rs 2.88. However neither Chief Education Officer nor Zilla Sainik Board had paid the rent till date. "We did not receive any rent from the CEO or ZSB", Warden of the Hostel Babu Hussain said. He added that the Hostel is paying electricity charges of Rs 3 lakh and water charges in lakhs per year and not even a single penny was received from them. He added that although there is problem to the students, he cannot push these officers out because the same is not in his control.
Sources said that heavy rush of people visiting CEO office and high age group of Sainik Board boys are creating bad impact on the students. "We cannot concentrate on studies as we remained disturbed day and nights in the Hostel because many people used to visit CEO and Zilla Sainik Board", a 6th class student said requesting anonymity.
