CM’s conference hall to go high-tech
10/13/2010 9:47:59 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 13: If all goes well, the Chief Minister’s Conference hall at Civil Secretariat in winter capital of the state will soon be equipped with high-tech gadgets as government is contemplating for its up-gradation on the pattern of Planning Commission of India’s Yojana Bhavan in New Delhi.
The decision to improve the infrastructural facilities at CM Secretariat’s Conference hall has been taken by none other than Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who apparently took a cue to turn it into an ultra-modern hall after he attended a meeting at Yojana Bhavan to discuss state’s annual plan with Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, said sources.
Impressed with the ultra hi-fi facilities there so much so, that Chief Minister immediately made up his mind to develop a Conference hall in the state on the pattern of
Yojana Bhavan.
Omar has issued instructions to Director Estates to make the conference hall equipped with all high-tech facilities.
The upgraded conference hall would have Video Conferencing facility besides will be fitted with three giant Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) and projectors.
A big LCD would be installed just behind and above the CM’s chair while two small LCDs on either sides (left & right) of it.
The Conference hall would get away with the old Audio system as it is being replaced with a new one having modern day technology. Moreover, the hall will also get new microphones.
Official sources said that the Conference Hall would be interconnected with all the district headquarters of the state besides the government is also considering to increase its seating capacity adding that it will be a state of the art unit having all the modern day audio as well as video equipments which would strengthen the communication and presentation facilities.
Sources further said that a team of experts from state will soon visit New Delhi to obtain the first hand knowledge of the hi-tech devices fitted at Yojana Bhavan.

It is pertinent to mention here that huge amount was spent on upgrading the facilities at CM’s Conference hall only a year back as furniture and audio system were changed to give it a new look.
Sources further informed that presently the hall has only the facilities of microphones, audio system and furniture.
The absence of other infrastructural facilities could be gauged from the fact that whenever there is meeting and a participant wants to illustrate his presentation he has to bring his own projector to convey the desired point of view in a better way, sources added
