Sadbhavana tour for school children concludes | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 13: An educational-cum-motivational tour named Bharat-ek-Khoj was organized by Ace of Spades Division and Nowshera Brigade from September 28 to October 13 2010 for school children belonging to militancy affected border villages of Nowshera sector. The tour was led by a Junior Commissioned Officer and four other ranks. Tour was flagged off from Nowshera on September 28, 2010 and culminated on October 13, 2010 after a momentous visit to Coromandel Coast to include Trivandrum, Kanyakumari and Chennai. During the tour, participants spread the message of peace and tranquility and closely witnessed the vibrant history of India that these locations had to offer. This tour had their first halt at Trivandrum where they interacted with Governor of Kerala R.L.Bhatia who hosted a tea party for the participants and interacted with them for over an hour. They visited Tourist Villa and Sangumugam beach. Tour after exploring the divine scenic beauty at Trivandrum proceeded to their next destination to Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of south India. Enroute to Kanyakumari, they visited Padmanabhapuram Palace, Triparappu Water Falls, Pechippara Dam. At Kanyakumari, the students visited sunset point, Gandhi Mandapam and Amusement Park. The adventurous experience of sea boating up to the peaceful and soul searching environs of Vivekananda Rock and Thiruvalluvar Statue was appreciated by all the participants. The seamless extent of the Indian ocean and the beach and boating experience at Kanyakumari was the high point of the tour for these students residing in the rugged mountainous terrain of Naoshera Sector. During their stay in Chennai, they interacted with Governor of Tamil Nadu Surjit Singh Barnala and visited Chennai Port, Spenser Plaza a mega shopping mall, Anna Planetarium, Fort St George, Marina Beach, Vandalur ZOO, Amusement Park, the scenic Mahabalipuram, Golden beach, Crocodile Park and Officer Training Academy. During the visit to the Port, a short sailing trip was organized in Navy Ship. Successful completion of this tour has resulted in closer relationship between the locals and the Army. It has also developed a deep sense of belonging to the nation amongst these children of remote areas. This project will help the Army to generate better trust and goodwill amongst the masses besides providing beckon of hope and a context for future development and progress to the participants.
