| Implement Supreme Court’s verdict | | Garib SC,ST Morcha holds demonstration | | JAMMU | OCT 29
The president of Garib Scheduled casts scheduled tribe Morcha, Ch.Pervez Ahmad has hailed the decision of the supreme court in upholding the reservation policy of SC,ST and OBC, and also removing the creamy layer.
Addressing a press conference her today Pervez said that apex courts judgment is a matter of satisfaction for SC/ST community, as crores of Dalits were deprived of the benefit.
He further said that on the other hand it is a matte of concern, that no notice had yet been taken of influential politicians, bureaucrats and affluent class, who are overwhelmingly represented in Govt. services. He also apprehends that the powers both at centre and state level, are not doing enough in the implementation of the Apex court’s verdict, he added. He also said that SC/ST morcha will fight tooth and nail against the nefarious designs as well as anti-people policies. He demanded that Apex court’s judgement should be implemented in letter and spirit and appealed to the chief minister G.N Azad, to move a bill in the forthcoming assembly session, to seek amendment in the relevant section of the constitution, in the light of the Apex cout’s ruling.
Later a protest demonstration was organized by All J&K Garib Scheduled Casts Scheduled Tribe Morcha outside the Press Club, carrying placards with slogans written like implement Apex court’s verdict in letter and spirit.
The demonstration was also addressed by, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, State President, Smajwadi Party, who said that he has raised this issue several times during 1976 and 1996 in state assembly in 1980, in the Rajya Sabha, when he was M.P
Others who were present on the occasion include Master Sant Ram, Preeto Devi, Jot Saroop Khullar, Gharu Ram, Kiran and others.
