JMC continues anti-encroachment drive | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, OCT 13: Municipal Magistrate along with Health Officer, Enforcement Officer and field staff of health and enforcement wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a drive to check adulteration in food items. In a handout issued here today, it has been said that they also penalized shopkeepers and vendors who had encroached upon footpaths, pavements, parts of roads thereby causing inconvenience to pedestrians and also obstructing the free flow of vehicular traffic in the areas of Bahu Fort, Railway Station Area, Jewel Area, Canal Road and Bikram Chowk. During the drive, 81 defaulters were booked under the provisions of PFA Act of 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. A fine of Rs. 31600 was charged from the defaulters on spot. Besides this, the team led by Municipal Veterinary Officer continued the drive against the stray animals and visited the areas of Amphalla, CPO Chowk, Panjthirthi, Chowk Chobutra, Jewel Area, Talab Tillo, Roop Nagar, Paloura etc and lifted 24 no’s of stray animals from these areas. A fine of Rs. 5160 was charged from the owners of stray animals. The team also checked meat shops in the areas of Gangyal, Satwari, Narwal etc and imposed a fine of Rs. 600.00 on shopkeepers who were selling unstamped meat besides charging Rs. 2500 from shopkeepers who were using the polythene carry bags.
