| Punjabi Adbi Sangat announced. | | | JAMMU OCT | 29 Punjabi Adbi Sangat in collaboration with Department of Punjabi, Jammu University (JU) held a function of writers various languages where in constitution of Punjabi Adbi Sangat (a literary organization) was officially announced and also a special issue of “Mohandra”, a magazine relating to Punjabi Fiction in J&K was released. The function was presided over by Dean Academic Affairs JU Dr. Davinder Singh where as Chairman Kashmir Times Group of Publications; Ved Bhasin was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking about the reasons, which necessitated the constitution of Abdi Sangat Dr. Susheel Sharma, said that the organization would help the Punjabi writers in publishing and release of their work, awarding an outstanding writer each year etc. He also assured the writers that every effort would be made to work for the development of Punjabi Language. Meanwhile, S Saran Singh stated that the organization has been framed in view of the fact to fill up the vacuum in Punjabi Literary activities in Jammu. Where as Dr. Joginder Singh Nirala while speaking appreciated the standard of Punjabi short stories in J&K vis a vis main stream Punjabi stories. Chief guest Ved Bhasin while addressing appreciated the steps taken by the organization for promotion of Punjabi Language and Literature. He said that the language is widely spoken in the world and is a link language between India and Pakistan. Dr. Davinder Singh also assured full support to the Punjabi Adbi Sangat for the promotion of the language. Harbajan Singh Sagar conducted the program.
