Core group reviews security situation across Jammu region | Durbar move | | ET REPORT JAMMU, Oct 13: Gearing up for arrival of Durbar in Jammu, core group of military today held a marathon meeting to chalk out strategy for improving security grid across the city. Core Group has directed for "zero tolerance for human rights violations by security forces". Chaired by the General Officer Commanding 16 Corps and Security Advisor Lieutenant General Rameshwar Roy, Core Group meeting reviewed the security situation in Jammu region in light of impending Durbar move and forthcoming festive season. It also discussed the recent intensified attempts of infiltration by various terrorist groups. Lt Gen Roy stated at the meeting that there is need to be more vigilant in view of the possibility of terrorists attempting to disrupt the existing peace in the region, especially during the forthcoming important festivals. Upon reviewing the security situation, he reiterated that the downward slide in terrorism was attributed to the high degree of dedication and cohesiveness amongst all the security agencies in the state. He said that zero tolerance for human rights'' violations by security forces have to be ensured at all costs with emphasis on conduct of joint operations. All areas must be appropriately sanitized regularly in view of the ongoing rush of pilgrims to Vaishno Devi shrine, he said. Meeting was attended by senior Civil, Police, PMF and Army Officers which included Tilak Devasher - Commissioner SB, Jammu, RK Gupta - Additional Commissioner of Jammu, Ashok Kumar Gupta - IG Police, Jammu, S Chattopadhyaya - IG BSF Prahlad Singh - DIG, CRPF, Naveen Agarwal - IG (Rly), Anurag Kumar - Deputy Director, SIB, Jammu and other officials. General Officers Commanding various formations affiliated to 16 Corps were also present at the meeting. |
