Power employees demand action against the culprits

Coordination committee of Power Employees Union, Jammu province has decided to continue the agitation by way of complete strike, in protest against the apathy attitude of police authorities and Power Development Department for not taking effective measures against the culprits responsible for assaulting the employees while they were on their duty.
Addressing a press conference here today, chairman of the committee Shakti Gupta alleged that on 26th of October while a team of PDD employees from subdivision number one of M&RE Div-111 was removing illegal connections, some villagers attacked the employees causing serious injures to two of its employees namely Subash Kachroo and Balbeer Singh. He said that when the employees of PDD brought the issue into the notice of Domana Police for lodging FIR against the culprits, it failed in discharging the duties.
Meanwhile, Gulam Nabi Bhat, president line man and workers union said that in case department fails to provide security to its employees working in the field, it would be impossible for the employees to generate the revenue. He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits under 307 Cr.pc in order to make the workers feel secure. He also appealed government to give magisterial powers to Executive Engineer of particular division to curb violence from consumers.
The committee threatened to continue the strike if appropriate action is not initiated against the culprits and SHO Domana is not suspended for his delinquency with duty. It also appealed Minister for Power to intervene into the matter.
