Task cumbersome for New Delhi’s interlocutors | Peace moves in J&K | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 14: The appointment of the team of three interlocutors for Jammu and Kashmir, to begin the process of “sustained uninterrupted dialogue” with all shades of opinion to resolve the Kashmir problem has not gone well with the different political parties in the state both in Jammu region as well as in Kashmir. To achieve anything fruitful is likely to become an acid test for the interlocutors as well as for the government of India. Whether the team of the interlocutors will achieve any success in its initiatives or not, it would be interesting to see since many important stakeholders have shown unhappiness with the team. It would also be seen whether it is a genuine step or just a time buying tactic on part of the union government. Union Home Ministry has chosen eminent journalist Dilip Padgaonkar, Information Commissioner M M Ansari and academician Professor Radha Kumar as interlocutors in the Jammu and Kashmir dialogue process. The appointments were made on Wednesday by the Union Government. Separatist leaders of the Kashmir valley have already shown disappointment over the names of interlocutors. They have said that the same would serve no purpose if they also take the line which the earlier ones took. “It is a joke with Kashmiri people and we have seen similar initiatives in the past too. We don't doubt their credibility and intellect but we know where the power lies, CNN IBN quoted JKLF chairman Yasin Malik as saying. Kashmir Valley is also disappointed since there are no political faces among them. Although Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to come up with any statement but has already held out unofficially that the three member team is light weighted. Similar was the stand of state unit of Communist Party of India (CPI-M). Its leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami questioned the capability of the interlocutors. Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) was also skeptical of the outcome of team of interlocutors appointed by the Union home ministry yesterday. Party termed the team devoid of knowledge about J&K’s geography, ethnicity and culture. All-party delegation’s visit to Kashmir last month had raised hope that finally a political solution to the Valley's problems might be possible. Union Government had sent an all party delegation after situation in Kashmir went out of control and resulted in killing of the more than 100 people allegedly at the hands of the security forces.
