EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 14: Shivali Rani from Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu bagged first prize in ‘poster making competition’ in the ongoing ‘Display Your Talent 2010-11’ event on the campus. The event was conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. Kanwar Iqbal from the Government Medical College, Jammu had to settle for the second prize while the third prize went to Farooq Ahmed from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu. Aditya Manohar Sharma from the Government College for Engineering and Technology, Jammu, Preeti Sharma from the Government Women College, Parade, Jammu and Poonam Abrol from the Taawish College of Education, were awarded the Certificates of Merit. The topics for the Poster Making were “Commonwealth Games”, “Drug Abuse” and “Pollution”. T S Batra, Anil Saraf and Chander Uday Singh, were the adjudicators in this event. Dr. Sarika Manhas, Teacher Incharge, made the participants conversant with the rules and regulations and supervised the competition. Beautiful Posters with meaningful messages such as “Don’t let these Drugs Smoke Away Your Life–Avoid Drugs”, “Let’s Make an Effort to Control Pollution–Green Earth, Clean Earth”, “Avoid Pollution, Save the World”, “You Will Save One Pound of CO2 for Every Mile, You Don’t Drive” and “Let’s Make Common Wealth Games Pride for Everyone”, were really, a visual treat. The participated teams included Govt. Degree College, Samba, Govt. College for Engineering and Technology, Jammu, Department of Environmental Sciences, Govt. Women College, Parade, Department of Home-Science, University of Jammu, Govt. Medical College, Jammu, Govt. Women College, Udhampur, The School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu, GGM Science College, Morning and Evening, Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Govt. Degree College Paloura, The Business School, University of Jammu, Ramnagar Campus, University of Jammu, Govt. Degree College, Kishtwar, J.K. College for BBA, Govt. Women College, Kathua, Taawish College of Education, Department of Sociology, Department of Law, University of Jammu and Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu. Among others Prof N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Sanjeev Mahajan, Addition Controller of Examinations, R.S. Dalpatia, Assistant Registrar, Shafali Gupta and Vikas Sharma, joint secretaries, Students Cultural Council, Sarang Vaid and Madhvi Sharma were also present.
