EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, October 14: District Poonch clinched the boys’ under-19 table tennis title outplaying Jammu district 3-1 in the inter-district divisional level competitions, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today. However, Jammu boys lifted the under-17 trophy beating the same opponent in Poonch 3-0. The Results: U-17: Jammu bt Poonch 3-0: Dhrubin bt Gagandeep 6-11, 11-8, 11-7; Sanmeet bt Gurjot Singh 4-11, 11-6, 11-8; Sindhant bt Ranbir 11-7, 11-9. U-19: Poonch bt Jammu 3-1: Mohit Sasan bt Pallav 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 11-7; Shubham Bhagat lost to Kanav 11-9, 11-9, 6-11, 7-11, 5-11; Prabhjot bt Kanav 11-5, 11-9, 11-5; Shubham bt Pallav 12-10, 11-9, 11-5. FENCING: In girls fencing competitions, Jammu district dominated in both field and epee events while Reasi had edge in saber. The Results: Sabre: Simran Arya, Jammu, Ist; Rumi, Reasi, 2nd; Surbhi, Reasi and Menakshi, Reasi, joint third. Foil: Ashmita Sharma, Jammu, Ist; Simi Akhter, Jammu, 2nd; Anchal Dogra, Jammu and Shivani Sharma, Jammu, joint third. In the concluding function of the three-day inter-district competitions, Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Meanwhile, as per the DYSS spokesman, the inter-district boys and girls’ kho-kho under-19 and basketball under-14 and under-19 shall take place from October 18 at Green Fields and Mini Stadium, Parade, here.
