| JU names Badminton, Basketball teams | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, October 14: To take part in the forthcoming inter-university competitions, Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) today finalized Badminton and Basketball teams here.
While the six-member men’s badminton team shall be leaving for the competition tomorrow, the five-member women’s team has already left for the venue yesterday.
The North Zone Inter-University Badminton Tournament is being hosted by Punjab University Chandigarh.
The Teams: Women: Akansha Raina (GCW Parade), Diksha Salgotra (MIET), Dhanvir Kour (GCW Gandhi Nagar), Harleen (GGM), Venika (PG). Men: Atul Verma (PG), Vasu Bhagat, Naresh Singh, Amit Kumar (all Trikuta Degree College), Maninder Singh (Science College), Anuj Gupta (Science College), Stand Bye: Amit Jastoria (Degree College Kathua).
Meanwhile, JU has also finalized a 12-member women’s basketball team for the North East Inter-University to be held at KIIT Bhubneshwar in Orissa from October 20 to October 25.
The Team: Natasha, Sadia, Sonu (all PG), Megha, Astha, Sonia, Diksha, Meenakshi, Sneha, Deepanti, Rashmi (GCW Parade), Geeta (GCW Gandhi Nagar). Stand Bye: Surbi (GCW Parade) and Sheetal (GCW Gandhi Nagar).
