| BJP awaits observers from the party high command for supervising presidential poll | | |
Jammu,October 30 (KIP) Though the party elections are yet to be completed in Poonch and Doda districts and Reasi the state unit of the BJP is ready for holding the poll for the president of the party. According to the BJP President,Dr Nirmal Singh,”we are ready for holding the poll for electing the party President but the exact date will be finalized when the party high command sends its representative to supervise the exercise.” Dr Nirmal Singh said that efforts were on to elect the party chief through consensus. He refused to say anything on the prospects of those party leaders who were keen to get elected to the post of the president. However, inside reports said that Mr Ashok Khajuria,General Secretary, had so far received a wide support on the plea that he had flexibility and a long experience in tackling ticklish party issues. These reports said that Mr Khajuria faces challenge from Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta,a former Minister of state for Defence, who had successfully handled the BJP affairs as its President. These reports said that under a recent agreement between the RSS and the BJP the RSS led State Morcha, which had created problems for the BJP in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections by fielding its candidates, the Morcha will have to remain away from the poll battles. It will not have any political role to play. Instructions have gone to Morcha activists to strengthen the BJP by supporting its campaigns against the faulty policies of the ruling coalition and lending help in the future elections. After the demise of its President,Sri Kumar, over three months ago,the State Morcha has become almost defunct following dissolution of its executive committee. |
