| Youth held with stolen car | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 14: A youth was today apprehended by police at Battal on Dhar Road in Udhampur along with a Maruti Zen car he had stolen from Mani Majra in Chandigarh.
The accused -- Shamim Ahmad, son of Ghulam Hussain -- hails from Danue in Kulgam area of Kashmir.He had stolen the car (CH04A/6203) from Mani Majra on October 6,
police sources said.
Sources said when a police patrol on Udhampur Dhar Road intercepted the car for routine checking, its driver Shamim got panicky and could not satisfy police queries.
His behaviour made police suspicious of him, the sources added, saying when put to sustained questioning, he allegedly told cops that he had stolen the car from Mani Majra.
He was immediately taken into custody and the car seized. Sources said when the Mani Majra police were contacted, they confirmed the theft of the car.
While the accused was booked under relevant sections of law, the car was handed over to the Mani Majra police, the sources added.
