| Kathua PSA holds protest, burns effigy of principal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA,Oct 14: THE Progressive Student Association unit, kathua staged a demonstration against the MAM College administration and burnt the effigy of the principal. They were protesting against the lathicharge on innocent students of the college who were demanding their due scholarships as per their respective SC/ ST reservation quota through social welfare department.
The students under the banner of PSA led by the president Kulbir and vice president Aditya came forward in the support of SC/ST students of MAM College and criticised the brutality of the police on the direction of college principal which has marked the number of questions on the existence of the democracy and the attitude of the principal towards the SC/ST students of the college.
The spokesperson of the PSA Rajani Thakur, Arun Singh, Ankush and Shekhar urged the government to constitute a committee to investigate the whole episode and suspend the Principal of the MAM college who played heinous role to harass the SC/ST students and also take stern action against the police who beaten the innocent students with lathi.
They warned the administration and the state government the undemocratic tendencies and gundaisms of the police over the poor and innocent students would never be tolerated and this injustice and atrocities of the police and college administration would be resisted by waging the statewide as well as nationwide students’ movement.
