Kashmir violence may end after Obama's Delhi visit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu,October 14: Reports from the separatists camp indicate that the current phase of violence and shutdown in the valley is likely to end till the American President,Barack Obama, completed his visit to India. Obama is scheduled to visit India early next month. According to these reports ,the hardliners among the separatists, headed by Syed Ali Shahh Geelani have plans of keeping the process of violence alive so that the American President get the latest feedback on Kashmir. These reports said the decision on continuing with the calls for shutdown and protest rallies was taken after the separatists were informed that Obama had no intention of mediating on Kashmir between India and Pakistan. He had plans of discussing trade and terrorism with the Indian Government during his visit to Delhi. Inside reports said that the key to peace in Kashmir is in the hands of Geelani who has announced that he would not interact with the interlocuters appointed by the Government of India. He and the moderates would have welcomed the decision had some senior cabinet minister and prominent political leaders also been included in the team of interlocuters. Reports said that Geelani has been told to suspend the agitation which had not only resulted in the killing of 110 civilians in the CRPF-Police firing but in the massive loss to traders, transporters and all those connected with tourism. These reports said that the hardliners hope to receive support from the people to their call for shutdown till Obama completed his India tour because the Kashmir issue could be settled immediately if the US Government intervened.
