Traffic ASI hurt in alleged brawl with MLA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 14: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of traffic police was today wounded in a brawl allegedly with BJP MLA Durga Dass, his son and personal security officers (PSOs) at Ghagwal in Samba. The trouble started in the afternoon when traffic police ASI Shamsher Singh stopped a motorcyclist near the Ghagwal railway station for routine checking. Police sources said when the ASI asked the motorcyclist to show him the registration papers of his two-wheeler, he told him that he was the son of MLA Durga Dass. Though he carried the registration papers, he did not have the licence. The youth then called up the MLA, ie his father, and narrated him the whole episode. Sources said the MLA reached the spot along with his PSOs soon after he received his son's call. He was alleged to have entered into a brawl with the ASI. Though it was not known who hit the ASI on his nose as several people had gathered there seeing the MLA, he was taken to the Samba district hospital for medical check up, the sources added. The MLA said he had come along with his son's driving licence and had nothing to do with the fight, sources said. No case had, however, been registered in this connection till late tonight as efforts were on for a patch up. |
