MAM retains inter-college kho-kho trophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 15: Government MAM College retained the inter-college men’s kho-kho trophy winning the title for forth consecutive time outplaying Government Degree College Udhampur in a close contest that took place at University of Jammu fields, here today. Remained neck on neck, both sides played well throughout but it was MAM College which by virtue of their experience and crowd support emerged victorious. In need of four points in the last seven minutes game, Udhampur boys while chasing could secure only four to lose the title clash by four points. However, the visiting Udhampur boys made their presence felt despite the fact that they were tired due to hectic schedule. “We have played without a break for the last four days that too shuttling between Udhampur and Jammu every day. The hectic schedule and over 120-kilometers of travel daily tired us a lot,” captain of Udhampur College, Sunny Kumar told SAN after his team’s defeat. Still Udhampur boys were upbeat by playing the final after a long time. “No doubt we lost, still the boys are happy by making it to the final,” he maintained. Earlier, Raza, Abbu, Hem Singh and Deepak played fine game from winners MAM College while Subhas, Sourav and Amit defended well from Udhampur. The final officiated by State Sports Council coaches, Ajay Gupta and Anil Sharma. The final beside others was witnessed by Dean Academic Affairs (DAA), Prof R D Sharma, who was chief guest. He was introduced with both the finalist teams. Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau was among others present.
