Chib lays foundation stone of Advance Yoga centre

JAMMU, Oct 15: In this era of scientific advancements, every body is under stress and medical fraternity and health providers are the worst sufferer. Establishment of this Yoga Centre shall definitely lower the stress and strain of the medical fraternity leading to the improvement in the over all service to the ailing society stated Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports,. R. S. Chib while laying foundation stone of Advance Yoga Centre at newly constructed Medical Faculty Club at Meheshpura Chowk.
The Yoga Hall with a total area of 2700 Sq. fts shall be constructed on the first floor of Medical Faculty Club. This hall shall have facilities for conducting yoga classes and bathrooms alongwith office chambers of Yoga experts. The total cost involved for the construction of this hall shall be Rs. 43 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib said that this Yoga Centre will be set up with the financial support of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, an Autonomous Body under AYUSH department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The MDNIY has already set up three Advance Yoga Centres in the country, one each at JIPMIER Pandichery, NIMHANS Bangalore and University of Yoga at Ahmadabad Gujrat and this is the fourth Centre in India being set up at Government Medical College, Jammu.

The Minister also announced Rs. 2 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund for renovation of Medical Faculty Club, Government Medical College, Jammu so that the doctors of GMC and other senior doctors coming from outside the state could interact with each others.

Mr. Chib also thanked the Planning Department for release of Rs. 20 lakh for the Yoga Centre and the patronage of the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah.

Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Singh, HOD ENT Dr. Aniece Choudhary, Prof and HOD Blood Banks, Dr. T. R. Raina, Medical Superintendent GMC Dr. Romesh Gupta, Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Dr. Reva Gupta, XEN JKPCC, Mr. Tiku, other HODs, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.
