| US India strategic partners to surround China: Bruce Gagnan | | Seminar on Nuclear disarmament held | | Sandeep Bhat
United states of America and India are strategic partners in surrounding China to stop its nuclear expansion programme. India is playing a junior partner to U.S.A to keep an check on China. This was disclosed by Bruce Gagnan, a U.S citizen and chief co-ordinator, Global network against weapons & nuclear power in space in an seminar organized in Jammu today. He further said that India, which took lead in Non-align nation today is hand in glove with united states in its nuclear expansion and arms race and added that united states is making its presence double in Asian pacific region. It is using Japan, Taiwan and South Korea to keep check on N.Korea and same thing is applying in this region.
US is expanding its eastways NATO as it has expanded its NATO Europe to surround Russia. More US bases are coming up in Poland and Latina, he added and said that despite Barack Obama’s nice words, he is increasing budget of Pentagon. He has allocated 708 billion dollars for 2011, and 175 billion dollars for next two decades for building two nuclear stations and 100 billion dollar for platform for nuclear weapons. He further said that Obama is violating his own promise by conducting sub-critical nuclear test in czeck republic. India on the other hand is having emerging super power is thinking of making moon and mars in near future. India which once was a non-aligned country now is neck to neck with United States in nuclear arms race. Vision 2010 document, nuclear document of U.S.A is to control space and deny other countries entry into space and India space – 2020 document equally is toeing on the same line. In U.S.A, out of 50 states, 45 are in fiscal deficit and there is growing in employment problem, to contain this, U.S administration is spending more money in star wars project and it will be the largest star war project in the world, this shows the hypocracy of Obama and U.S is exporting arms and ammunition to other countries. U.S is the number one export product of weapons and thus creating instability and tension in the world. He further said that we are a small family and space is our home and our aim should be to keep our space and earth free from arms race. Earlier, DK Rampal, chairman, of the organization, threw light on nuclear arms race in the continent and urged the peace workers to help in making a nuclear free world.
JN Rao, director of the organization, while addressing the seminar said that united nations is trying hard to make nuclear free world and under UN-1967, article 6 clause is clearly indicating about the staus of nuclear weapons state and non-nuclear states. He said that US has to take initiative for nuclear disarmament.
Mohd. Aslam Goni, for advocate general and advisor to Farooq Abdullah, minister for renewable energy, who was chief guest in absence of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who was unwell, said that there is a need of organizing more seminars and conferences on nuclear disarmament. He appreciated the role of Global network against weapons and nuclear power in space for organizing such a seminar in J&K.
He disagree with same of the points raised by Bruce Gagnon and largely appreciated the role of India in nuclear race citing the example of changing the scenario in the world. Ashwani Pradhan Gen. Sec, (J&K Chapter) welcomed the guests on the occasion and Nazima played the role of an anchor. Prominent citizens, intellectuals, social workers, academicians were present on the occasion.
