EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Oct 15: West Pakistani Refugee Action Committee has urged the state and central government to address their long pending genuine demand of state’s citizenship rights.
In a meeting held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park here today under the chairmanship of state president Labha Ram Gandhi, the refugees said that we are struggling to get right of permanent citizenship of the J&K state since 1947 but the government is ignoring it despite assurances on several occasions. Labha Ram said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has given many assurances to mitigate our problems but nothing has been done so far till date.
He said that the package announced by the PM in 2008 to rehabilitate the refugees has also not given a priority.
Gandhi said West Pakistani refugees are mentally prepared to launch massive statewide movement and for all the dire consequences the state government would be responsible.
