In Panchayat, Rajouri cops murder a civilian
3rd murder in 10 days: Accused absconding

RAJOURI, Oct 15: In a broad day light at public Panchayat, two police cops have allegedly murdered their brother -in- law and injuring his son badly in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district. This is the third broad day light murder in Rajouri district for the last 10 days.
As per reports, Mohammad Sadiq son of Ghulam Nabi a resident of Bhatian village in tehsil Thanamandi was allegedly murdered by his brother in-laws during a public Panchayat in the village. His son Musadar Hussain also received head injury during the scuffle.
As per sources Mohammad Sadiq had two wives and he was allegedly showing affection to one of them which annoyed the relatives of other wife. Sources said that this is the basic reason of murder. To settle the dispute in the family, police sources said that a
Panchayat was arranged in which all parties were invited. However it took an ugly turn when two cops happened to be brothers of one of the wife of Mohammad Sadiq entered in scuffle with their brother in-law for not giving importance to their sister. During the scuffle, eyewitnesses revealed that cops namely Shah Nawaz and Haq Nawaz picked iron rods and allegedly started beating up Mohammad Sadiq and his son Musadar Hussain. Both get serious injuries on head.
Meanwhile locals shifted both of them to Sub District Hospital from where they were referred to District Hospital Rajouri where Mohammad Sadiq was declared dead by the doctors and Musadar Hussain is recving treatment in the hospital.
Following the episode police rushed to the spot. However the culprits have reportedly absconded from the village. Police constable Haq Nawaz is posted in District Police Line Jammu while another cop Shah Nawaz is attached with a protected person in Poonch district.
When contacted, incharge SHO Thanamandi has said they have lodged FIR no 129 of 2010 under section 302 and started investigation. He however said that both the cops have absconded and they have launched search to nab them.
The incidents of murders have increased in Rajouri district. From the last 10 days, todays was 3rd murder. On October 6 a College President Ali Asghar Jatt (19) son of Mohd Ayub Jatt of Dhanidhar village was murdered when he was returning home with his friends after celebrations of his election. Police had lodged FIR No 367 of 2010 under section 302 in the police station against 10 accused and arrested them.
Second case of murder was reported on October 10 when Tasveera Begum of Thandi Kassi village of Rajouri was axed by her husband Mohammad Tufail.
