| ADDC flags off batch of 60 progressive farmers | | | UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 30 A group of 60 progressive farmers hailing from different parts of district Udhampur including from Gool, Arnas, Panchari, Ramnagar, Reasi and Mansar has been flagged off from Udhampur for an awareness tour by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Bhat, today. The farmers would visit Agriculture farm at Chatha, Bagh-I- Bahu, Sher-I-Kashmir Agriculture University, R.S. Pura and Pouni chak where the farmers would be acquainted with latest technologies of farming especially the cultivation of cash crops like floriculture and vegetables to improve production besides raising the socio-economic standard of poor and marginal farmers of the district. The farmers after conducting tours of these areas would return back to Udhampur on November 2, 2006 where they would be imparted training in progressive farming till November 2006. Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC exhorted upon the farmers to get latest know-how in the field of agricultural sciences during their tour and try their best to implement their same in their respective areas to get optimum yield besides prompting the farmers of their respective areas to adopt latest techniques in farming to raise their income and production. The Chief Agriculture Officer, Udhampur stressed upon the farmers to focus their attention on vegetable and floriculture to substantiate their income and become a model for other farmers to follow suit. |
