6-kg IED defused on Mendhar-Poonch road | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 16: A major tragedy was averted today when the Army defused a six kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Mendhar-Poonch national highway. Traffic remained disrupted for hours this morning when the Army troops detected nearly a six-kg of IED packed in a box in Mankote area of Mendhar on Poonch road,'' the sources said. They said a bomb disposal squad was pressed into service. The troops defused the device at around 11: 30 am following which the disrupted traffic resumed on Poonch highway.
