Hindi play ‘Chote Bade’ staged by Natrang | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 17: Mani Madhukar’s Hindi play - a hard hitting contemporary political satire ‘Chote Bade’ directed by Balwant Thakur was presented here toady in Natrang’s weekly theatre series Sunday Theatre. The play “Chote Bade” depicts the story of two unemployed dejected youth, their aspirations, pain and frustrations. Rejected by the system, both are confronting with a mental turmoil in switching to illegal ways of survival. Living in fool’s paradise at one time they find more comfort but gradually they realize of befooling themselves. The play is a big satire on today’s power hungry politicians who are responsible for the poor state of affairs in India and indicates that the fast decline of faith in the system has reached to a blasting situation. It aspires and prompts the youth to fight it out and save the nation from the clutches of these vultures before it deteriorates further. Rohit Verma played as Bade whereas Mohd. Yaseen did the role of Chote. Both were able to evoke the emotional response of the audience as they successfully portrayed the inner turmoil of the youth today. Such plays when performed in an intimate style do leave lot of scope for the actors to demonstrate best of their acting skills. The lights of the play were designed and executed by Suraj Ganjoo. The sets were designed by Pankush Verma and sound effects were visualized and executed by Rahul Singh. Vikram Sharma did the presentations. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show.
