Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 17: Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir State Finance Commission (SFC) Mehmood-ur-Rehman today said that every effort would be made to mitigate problems of those migrants of the Valley, who had to leave their homes due to militant threat.
Addressing a rally of political migrants organised by Migrant Political Front, Kashmir, here today, Rehman said that he is aware of migrants' problems and assured them that their demands would not only be taken up with departments concerned, but also reflected in commission's report.
Saying that accommodation is the major problem that the migrants face, he assured that adequate measures would be taken to sort it out. Empathising with the migrants, Rehman said Indian Constitution has guaranteed equal rights to every citizen. He said that several demands of the front stand already addressed and assured that the remaining problems would also be looked into.
Chairman and other members of the Front also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems of migrants. Recently, migrants had staged a Dharna, alleging that government has failed to address their demands. ''We are living in one room along with our families,'' said the migrants, belonging to different political parties and demanded equal treatment with those who had migrated to Jammu and other places in the country.
Member State Finance Commission (SFC) Somam Dawa, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Mehraj- Ahmad Kakroo and senior members of the front were present on the occasion.
