| Jhiri Mela commences from Nov 3 | | Jugal reviews Jhiri Mela arrangements | |
JAMMU, OCTOBER 30 (INFO)- Minister for Rural Development Department Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma today reviewed the arrangements being made by the district administration for Jhiri Mela which will commence from November 03, 2006.
Minister of State for Higher Education Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Hirdresh Kumar Singh, Director Rural Development Department Mr. Guldev Raj Bhagat, Director Tourism, Mr. Ajay Khajuria, Additional Development Commissioner Mr. Sourabh Bhagat, Nodal Officer Samba Mr. B. S. Jamwal, Superintending Engineer Hydraulics Mr. Ashok Gupta, Block Development Officer-Cum-Mela Officer Mr. G. M. Mir and other senior officers of PHE, PDD, RDD, R&B, Education and Revenue were accompanied the Minister.
The Minister asked the authorities of PHE, PDD, RDD, R&B, Education and Revenue to provide all the basic amenities to the devotees so that the pilgrims do not face any convenience. He directed the engineers of R&B to execute the repair and patch work of the adjoining roads leading to Jhiri and also issued instructions to the Mela Officer to install tents well before the commencement of Mela for the accommodation of yatris those who come from outside the state. He directed the authorities of Transport Department to ply sufficient buses from MAM stadium to Jhiri via Sua No. 1 to facilitate the pilgrims. He said that the police department will maintain security arrangements during the Mela days in and around the temple, patrolling will also be conducted by the police in the adjoining villages of Jhiri from November 1 to 10, 2006. He asked the police authorities to strictly keep a vigil over the sale of liquor and gambling.
Mr. Sharma asked R&B department to immediately remove the encroachments from main road to Baba Talab for the benefit of devotees. He directed the authorities of Irrigation Department to divert the Khul of Sua No. 1 water into the Talab located at Bawa Talab to facilitate the yatris for having bath in the sacred Talab. Besides, he asked the PDD department to ensure regular supply of electricity during the Mela days nd install flood lights in and around the temple for the benefit of pilgrims. He asked the Superintending Engineer PHE Mr. Ashok Gupta to ensure supply of safe drinking water and repair the defunctional and provide the water supply to newly constructed toilets being constructed by the Rural Development Department at Jhiri and Bawa Talab. He said that the PHE and PWD departments will barricade the area of Jhiri Mela well before the commencement of Mela. He asked the authorities of Health Department to establish two medical centre one at Khiri and another at Bawa Talab to provide medicare facilities to the devotees.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh convened a high level meeting with PHE, PDD, RDD, PWD, R&B, Education, Police and CAPD officers to discuss the arrangements made by the departments for the smooth conduct of this religious Mela.
He also inspected the ongoing construction work of footpaths, lanes and drains etc. in the temple. He asked the shopkeepers to provide fresh items with reasonable rates. He issued instructions to the authorities of Forest Department for installation of a firewood depot at Jhiri well before the commencement of Mela. He directed the authorities of health department to provide two ambulances one at Jhiri and another at Bawa Talab for the benefit of devotees and also asked the authorities of Civil Defence to provide volunteers to serve the devotees who throng here in large number from different pockets of the state. |
