KATRA, Oct 17: Terming the holy town Katra as a icon of brotherhood and communal harmony, MP Lal Singh , chief guest on the occasion said that people hailing from different faith extend their hospitality to the visiting pilgrims to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine for their comfortable pilgrims. He said it is all due to the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and perfect synergy between the locals and administration that pilgrimage to this holy Shrine is rising exponentially every year.
While speaking on the occasion he lauded the sincere efforts of all organizations associated with the Navratra festival for its successful culmination. He said it was the result of coordinated and sincere efforts put in by the different agencies especially the people of Katra that the festival have achieved excellence in every field and was recognized as festival of culture, traditions, talent and harmony.
The chief guest complemented the winners of the Mega Final and hoped that they would also excel in other competitions at national and international level.
Sonali Dogra of Jammu was declared as best singer and bagged first prize in the mega final event of All India Devotional Song Competition, jointly organized by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Katra, J&K Tourism Department, District Administration, Reasi with the active support of local organization during Navratra festival which concluded amidst chanting of bhajans and beating of drums at Yog Ashram , last night.
Rakesh Mahotra from Jammu and Shivvanker Bharti of Kathua, were adjudged second and third respectively in the bhaint competition. As many as 15 singers from different parts of the country participated in the mega final.
Mool Raj, a previous winner of the All India Devotional Song Competition, Katra also mesmerized jam packed audience with his melodious bhajans.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Police Range, Gulzar Singh Slathia, Add Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Dr. M. K. Bhandri, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, P.K. Pole, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anand Jain, Director Tourism, Jammu, R.K. Verma, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue (Nodal Officer Navratra Festival), Sukhdev Singh, Addl. SP, Katra, Shiv Kumar, Members of Navratra Festival Committee including Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sham Lal Kesar, Surinder Khajuria, Sardari Lal Dubey, prominent citizens, large number of yatris and locals were present on the occasion.
Noted Bollywood personalities, including Managing Director of Venus Tapes and Records, Ganesh Jain, Producer Directors, Mukesh Bhatt, David Dhawan, Trade Analyst and Producer, Vikas Mohan, Sham Saraf, Chief Executive Officer, Zee Jagran, Mrs. Barkha Arora were the judges of the mega final.
Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB in his welcome address, highlighted the various events which were organized during the Nine day Navratra Festival at Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishni Devi Ji Shrine.
