Bathindi mosque’s Imam attacked | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 17: An Imam of a mosque was allegedly beaten up by a group of persons over old property dispute early this morning here at Bathindi. Imam Zakir Hussain, who looks after a mosque in Bathindi area, was whipped up by about twelve persons, said police sources The group of miscreants allegedly dragged the Imam out of mosque and later gave him a severe thrashing, sources added The Imam immediately brought the incident into the notice of Police and lodged a written complaint against those who attacked him. In his complaint, Imam Zakir Hussain has alleged that twelve persons, including four women led by one Ghulam Rasool, Moulvi Subor and Sadaam Hussain assaulted him in the mosque premises and also pushed him out. Acting on Imam’s complaint, police registered a case under section 452,323,147 and 148 RPC against the accused. After registering a formal First Information Report (FIR), police conducted simultaneous raids at respective residences of those involved in the attack and arrested three of them while a manhunt has been launched to arrest Ghulam Rasool and eight others.
