Minors abandoned at Jammu railway station | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 17: Three sisters in their infancy, aged between one and three were abandoned at Jammu railway station on Saturday. It was an alert sweeper identified as Gurdev Singh who saw three children sitting at the railway platform near the computer room with no elder around them. He took the abandoned babies into his custody and has been taking care of them ever since. "After finding the girls, I have been taking care of them till now…. I provided water, milk and food to them. I didn't sleep the whole night and have been attending them. I had a couple of blankets, I gave them to the children," said Gurdev Singh. It is the irony of fate that three year old Kajal, the oldest of the three sisters, is not old enough to know the names of her other two siblings. All she can tell is her mother left them at the station and went for work and didn't return. The other two babies are too young to speak. Nobody knows who brought the children here and why were they abandoned? The police have come into the picture twenty four hours later. They took the children in their custody but so far no NGO or group has come forward to adopt the babies. "We have now kept them in our custody and are getting in touch with the NGOs, whenever some organization seek their custody we will hand the girls over to them," said SHO Railway Station RK Bhardawaj, Amidst all this the babies are unaware of the difficult situation they are in and are awaiting the return of their mother.
