JJSF’s three-day fasting to observe Martyrs’ Day concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 18: The three days long fast observed by four activists of Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) to mark black days was ended on Monday as the Justice Paviter Singh (retired), who is also the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples Forum (JKPF) offered juice to them. Rich tributes were paid to student martyrs who laid their lives while fighting for establishment of Jammu University in 1966. On the concluding day the JJSF organised a programme to pay floral tribute to the student martyrs. The JJSF activists also performed special ‘Pooja’ on Shaheedi Sathal to pray for the departed souls. The special pooja was performed by Partap Singh Jamwal, state vice president, JJSF, Sumit Kumar Dogra and four activists including Sanjay Sharma, Lovely Gupta, Mohd Ashraf and Davinder Singh who observed the fast for three days. The chief guest was Justice Pavitar Singh while Dr M S Baloria, Principal, GGM Science College also paid tributes. Giving tribute to these martyrs and encouraging the students, the city colleges’ principals including Prof Hemla Aggarwal, principal GDC Paloura, Prof Anita Sudan, Principal, SPMR Commerce College, Ajeet Angral, Principal MAM College and Nanhi Kohli Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar. On this occasion, Pavitar Singh said it is due to the martyrs of 1966 that there are so many educational institutions in the Jammu region. Singh also said that the people of Jammu region are with the students who had started agitation for the appointment of VC for Central University. Singh also encouraged the JJSF activist for giving tribute to these martyrs from the last so many years. The Principal GGM Science College, Inderjeet Khajuria, Rajesh Kesari, Ved Parkash and Jagdish Chander also addressed the gathering. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included, Inderjeet Khajuria president Hotel Association, Rajesh Kesari, president, Shiv Sena United, Jagdish Chander president Sanatan Sabhan, Ved Parkash, president, Brahman Sabha, Avinash Bhatia Amrit Mangotra and Tilak Raj Pandoh, JPPF leaders, Udhay Chand, president Duggar Pradesh Party, Narayan Singh, president Rajput Sabha and others.
