Drive against adultered food items launched | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 18: Continuing with the drive against adulteration in food items especially in view of forthcoming Diwali festival, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation along with a team of food inspectors inspected various food establishments viz. sweets shops / workshops, milk and milk products shops in the areas of Old City, Pacca Danga, Canal Road, Sarwal, Talab Tillo, Kanji House and Gandhi Nagar. During the drive, about 20 food establishments were checked and ten samples of Burfi, Rasgulla, Ladoo, Petha, Chocolate and of milk were lifted and sent to Public Analyst, Jammu for analysis for ascertaining standard of purity. The drive will remain continue to check the adulteration in food items / eatables and all the shopkeepers dealing with food articles for sale / storage / manufacture are asked to ensure supply of fresh and pure food stuffs to the general public. They are further instructed to keep the food items / sweets under proper cover and within their premises and in case of any violation action under provisions of PFA Act 1954 and Municipal Corporation Act 2000 shall be taken against the defaulters.
