Inter-district divisional level competitions of DYSS
Jammu, Udhampur enter kho-kho quarterfinals

JAMMU, October 18: Jammu and Udhampur boys today made into the quarterfinals stages in the ongoing inter-district divisional level kho-kho under-19 tournament, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Green Field grounds, here.
In the first round of pre-quarterfinals, Jammu boys defeated Rajouri by 10 (19-09) points while Udhampur trounced district Poonch by a narrow margin of one (10-09) point.
Meanwhile, in girls section Jammu lost in the league match to Kathua 1-4 while Udhampur, Samba, Rajouri and Kathua girls won their respective matches to consolidate their position.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Deputy Director DYSS.
The Results: Kho-kho boys: Kishtwar bt Samba 17-05; Jammu bt Rajouri 19-09; Kishtwar bt Ramban by one turn and five points; Udhampur bt Poonch 10-09; Samba bt Ramban 11-05; Doda bt Kahua 4-3.
Kho-kho girls: Kathua bt Jammu 04-01; Rajouri bt Doda 10-05; Samba bt Kishtwar 04-02; Udhampur bt Poonch by one turn and 22 points.

Basketball: Jammu dominate

Meanwhile, Jammu district dominated in both boys and girls’ basketball competition held to select the provincial teams in different age groups. Only two districts turned up for the competition forcing the organizers to straightway go for trials-cum-matches at Mini Stadium, Parade ground, here.
The Results: Boys: U-19: Jammu bt Udhampur 47-27. U-14: Jammu bt Udhampur 10-09. Girls: U-19: Jammu bt Udhampur 19-10. U-14 Jammu bt Udhampur 12-07. U-17: Udhampur bt Jammu 19-18.
