| Education dept contributes over Rs 8.04 lakh for Leh hit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 18: The Department of School Education today presented a draft amounting Rs.8,04,351 for relief and rehabilitation of Leh cloudburst victims to Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohd Sayeed at a function held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar Jammu.
The amount has been donated by the school children of class 6th to 12th out of their pocket money voluntarily as a gesture of extending helping hand to their disaster struck brethren. The draft was presented to the Minister by Commissioner/Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Naseema Lanker.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the children for showing concern for their fellow human beings rising above the barriers of caste, creed and colour. He also had words of praise for the Director School Education, Jammu, who took keen interest in this voluntary collection campaign.
Naseema Lanker also lauded the monetary contribution of school children and hoped that they will continue their humane services with the same spirit and zeal.
Among others State Project Director, SSA, Personnel Officer, Directorate of School Education, Principal, SIE Jammu, Principal of HSS Jammu and school children were present on the occasion.
