| Transporters form Joint Action Committee | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 18: To highlight their demands, the transporters of Jammu region today formed All Jammu and Kashmir Transports Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) with S Harmohinder Singh as its president. Other members of the Joint Action Committee included working president Pritam Sharma, Anmol Sethi as senior vice president, Pritam Singh vice president, Har Asis Singh as general secretary, Gangandeep Singh as secretary, Gurvinder Singh as press secretary, Ganjan singh as Cashier, and Mangal Singh as spokesman. Addressing the media persons in this regard, the newly elected president S Harmohinder Singh said that the slack less of the authorities of the traffic Police in checking overloading in the vehicles was impacting their day to day working. He also stated that his was causing losses to the tune of crores of rupees of revenue to the state government. General Secretary Harasis Singh appealed to concerned authorities for providing weighing bridges for checking the load carriers and trucks to prevent overloading of these commercial vehicles. JKTJAC demanded stopping of entry taxes for passengers and commercials vehicles. They appealed to the state government and concerned authorities to restrict such officers from including in corrupt practices as the transporters were already overburdened by the taxes, hike in the price of petroleum products and the spare parts.
