Bootleggers arrested, illict liquor recovered

JAMMU, Oct 18: Udhampur Police arrested two bootleggers while 10 litres of Lahan and 4 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from their possession in the area of Basantgarh area last night.
The arrested bootleggers have been identified as Mast Ram son of Des Raj and Shamboo son of Beli Ram both residents of Upperla Balota.
Police spokesman said that Police conducted a raid in the area of Basantgarh on the complaints made by the local people of the area regarding the manufacturing, selling and use of illicit liquor.
Police party of PS Basantgarh raided few houses in that area and caught red handed the above said bootleggers while manufacturing and selling the illicit liquor in their house. Police recovered 10 ltrs of ‘l

ahan’ one and 4 litres of illicit liquor for selling purpose along with manufacturing from the house of said accused on spot.
The ‘lahan’ was destroyed on spot. Both the accused were arrested and booked under section 48 Excise Act and case stands registered at Police Station Basantgarh.
