Bonhomie between Indians and Pakistanis on Indian TV reality shows | | | Two contradictory developments have been, and are being witnessed,as far as the growing strains in the relations between Islamabad and New Delhi are concerned. If on one side it continues to be eyball to eyeball confrontation between the two armies on the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir and the increase in the rate of infiltration of militants for destabilising peace in the state,on the other it is complete union of hearts between the people, especially the kids,of India and Pakistan on several reality shows telecast by the Indian television channels.Well the bonhomie among boys and girls hailing from India and Pakistan in the r ecently concluded Chotea Ustad reality show is an instance to prove that the people on either side of the LOC wish to live in harmony.Such friendly atmosphere has been witnessd in other such shows where the upcoming singers from the two countries faced each other on the stage and were seen embracing each other not like politicians, lacking sincerity and emotion, but like two closely knit neighbours.See the chemistry between Pakistani boys and the Indian girls on the set of Saare Gama Paa singing super stars.Whether it Rehat Ali Khan,Ghulam Ali Khan and others from Pakistan they feel more comfortable in India than in their homeland.Watch the chemistry between Sonu Nigam nd Rehat Ali Khan, two judges of Chote Ustad, on the sets. Those who have been used to watching tension growing between Islamabad and New Delhi do not believe when told that Khan is from Pakistan and Sonu from India.Anybody having still some doubts should be reminded of the opening ceremony of the recently concluded 19th Commonwealth Games in Delhi where several thousand spectators lustily cheered the moment the Pakistani athletes appeared on the ground. There were athletes from over 70 countries but the way the crowd cheered the Pakistani athletes surprised some but delighted many.Even the athletes and their managers and coaches, who were well aware of the conflict between Pakistan and India, were amazed over the welcome the Pakistani athltes received from the Indian audience.Large number of Pakistani artists, singers, scientists and others, who visit India from time to time, get very warm welcome from the Indian organisers. Some of the producers and Directors in the Bollywood have shown keen interest in signing actors and singers from Pakistan. Is it possible for the establishment in Islamabad to learn a lesson or two from the friendly and warm interaction between the people of the two countries?People in both the countries are keen to promote friendly and cordial relations. They want to bury the veil of mistrust and misunderstanding between the two and live in peace. But it seems the successive Governments in Islamabad have been keen on raising the level of conflict between the two sides.Actually there is no genuine politial or economic factors which could be responsible for this animosity. But Islamabad has been using the Kashmir card for perpetuating hatred against India. And whenever the Government in Islamabad finds itself in soup or in some problem the only way the successive Governments have used for not only diverting peoples'attention from the real problems but for forcing India to resolve the Kashmir issue also. There has been no major breakthrough in the bilateral talks, that are being held at long intervals.Islamabad has also learnt that the antiIndia campaign it has launched over the Kashmir issue has helped it to receive military and nonmilitary aid from India's number one enemy,China.Even other countries, including the USA,also keep on sending heavy military and nonmilitary aid to Pakistan as it believes that as long as tension and conflict between India and Pakistan survived the American and the Chinese Governments could fortify their bases in Pakistan.Hope Islamabad leaves it to people to shun hatred so that two close neighbours renewed their ties of friendhip, which was needed for peace in the subcontinent. |
