JMC’s drive against adulteration continues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct, 19: A team led by municipal veterinary officer under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (A) alongwith field staff conducted drive against the adulteration of milk and visited the areas of Bahu Fort, Gandhi Nagar, Sarwal, Meshapura, Resham Ghar Colony, Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Bohri, Patta Chungi. During the drive 190 milk cans were checked out which 08 samples of milk were sent to laboratory to check the quality of the milk. The team also destroyed 4 milk cans found of sub-standard quality. The team also lifted polythene carry bags from the areas of Fruit Mandi, KC Chowk, Indra Chowk, Bakshi Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Meshapura, Sabzi Mandi and a total fine of Rs. 9750.00 was charged from the defaulters Besides this, while further intensifying the drive against adulteration in commonly used food items especially in view of forthcoming Diwali Festival, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of Food Inspectors seized 300 kgs of Khoya packed in gunny bags from Indira Chowk which was brought from out side State. The sample of the same was sent to the public analyst for checking the adulteration. The team also inspected 18 food establishments like milk and milk products shops, sweet shops / workshops etc. in the areas of old city, New Plot, BC Road, Talab Tillo etc. and lifted 5 food samples of cheese, sweets and khoya. The samples were sent to Public Analyst, Jammu for analysis to ascertain the standard of purity.
