DCM reviews prestigious urban dev projects

SRINAGAR, October 19- Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today said that prestigious development projects taken in most of the towns and cities of State will transform the urban complexion on their completion.
He said that despite odd situation and turmoil prevailing in the valley, the concerned departments particularly, Local Bodies, LAWDA, Srinagar Development Authority have executed various public oriented works and the concerned Municipal bodies of Srinagar and other towns have maintained a sanitation system.
Minister of State for H&UD Department, Public Health Engineering, Tourism, Revenue and Relief, Nasir Aslam Wani was present in the meeting.
Among others the meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Suresh Kumar, Director, Local Bodies, Srinagar Khwaja Farooq Ahmed Renzu Shah, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Sheikh Mushtaq, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Municipal Commissioner, Jammu S. C. Sahani , Director Local Bodies, Jammu, F. C. Bhagat, Chairman, Lake and Water Ways Development Authority (LAWDA) Irfan Yasin, Managing Director Housing Board Dalip Thusoo, Special Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department and other senior level officers and functionaries of the H & UD Department also participated in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated urban local bodies for achieving 60 % progress in the civic amenities projects undertaken throughout the Valley.
Reviewing the works undertaken by LAWDA, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed the concerned officers to pace up execution of Dal de-weeding, advising for shifting the machines to sites where excessive weed growth in the Lake is witnessed. He also issued directions for speeding up procurement process of new machines.
The meeting was informed that work on the prestigious Rakh-e-Arth colony for rehabilitation of Dal dwellers, taken up at a cost of Rs 402 crores is going on apace and despite unpleasant situation filling work on the site is going on in full swing.
The Deputy Chief Minister also took a detailed review of city and town development projects of Jammu division being executed by the concerned departments.
