Ankur’s 81 guides Trikuta College to 55 runs win

JAMMU, October 19: Trikuta Degree College registered a fine 55 runs win over Acharya Shrichander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) to move into the third round of quarterfinals in the ongoing inter-college men’s cricket tournament on the JU campus, here today.
It was splendid knock of 81 runs from Ankur Slathia that guided Trikuta College to a big win. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Trikuta College made 159 runs losing all their wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, ASCOMS could not chase the total and bowled out for 104 runs in 19.1 overs.
Ankur Slathia was top scorer with 81 runs coming off mere 59 deliveries with the help of three sixes and seven boundaries. Jobesh contributed 16 runs. From ASCOMS, Akif and Aamir shared three wickets each.
Later, chasing a target of eight-run per over, the whole ASCOMS side bowled out for 104 runs in 19.1 overs. Viran Pal Singh contributed highest 21 runs, followed by Zubair and Abid, who added 10 and 19 runs respectively. Jobesh was most successful bowler from Trikuta College with three wickets.

7-run win for Kalhotrian College

Meanwhile, in another first round match of the day, Government Degree College Kalhotrian defeated Bhargwa Degree College by seven runs. Batting first, Kalotrian College set a target of 138 runs, which, in reply, Bhargwa College failed to chase and could make only 132 runs losing nine wickets in allotted 20 overs. Tasleem Arief played a brilliant knock of 51-ball 70 runs from winners Kalotrian College.
