Lok Adalat seminar held at Ramban | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 19: In continuation of legal literacy programme, a special Lok Adalat seminar was organized today at Ramban Court Complex. The programme was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Ramban Bala Jyoti. In the first session, a seminar was held where in all judicial officers, bar members, prosecuting officers, prominent persons, police officers and litigants participated and lauded the role of district legal services authority. In the seminar, various topics on Legal Education in educational institution, cyber crime, legal rights of women, anti-ragging laws, right to compulsory education, right to under trials, mediation and conciliation were taken up and a live question answer programme was also conducted. Earlier, Bar President A.R. Mushtaq welcomed the guests and appreciated role of Judiciary in minimizing pending cases in the courts. CJM Ramban Kusoom Lata Pandita expressed vote of thanks and Advocate Tasaduq Malik compared the proceedings. Among others who spoke on the occasion included Pawan Sharman and Ajay Gupta, Khalid Nizam and Z.D Babar. All participants deliberated upon topics assigned to them and lauded role of judiciary in provide legal education through legal classes in colleges, schools and High schools. Principal District and Sessions Judge Ramban Bala Jyoti focused on elementary knowledge of law. In the second session, a Lok Adalat was conducted where in all disputes of matrimonial nature, civil, bank cases, cases under Ranbir Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act were taken up and huge number of cases was settled amicably.
